Meet the A40 Farina Club Committee :-
NickNick Bayliss (Technical Officer) has been a member since July 1980, and has been local group co ordinator for the West Midlands group. The West Midland group has always been very active holding regular meetings including the annual club picnic, held at Anna and Franks, which last year celebrated a 20th anniversary. Nick has always held a wide range of spares which have been available for members, advertised in Farina News, and which have helped to keep a number of cars on the road over the years.
KeithKeith Bennett (Chairman) bought his 1958 Mk 1 saloon back in 1966, joining the Club in 1983 as member number 500. From 1989 he was Farina News editor for ten years, during which time he rebuilt his car having never worked on cars before. Keith has always contributed to Farina News, and recently joined the committee as a general committee member.
ChrisChristine Hepherd (Membership secretary) has been a member since May 1984, and has been membership secretary for many years. At the beginning all membership lists were typed by hand, but over the years Christine has transferred all the information onto a spreadsheet. Christine introduced quarterly colour coded renewal system, which has greatly simplified the renewals process, as a coloured renewal sheet goes out with a particular Farina News. Christine is responsible for printing all the labels for dispatch of Farina News and for banking all the renewal cheques from members.
TimTim Hinton (Secretary) has been a member since July 1981, and over the years has been spares secretary, which involved two updates of the spares guide which Phil Thomas had originally produced. Later he became Club archivist and most recently Club secretary, which has involved chairing the AGM and committee meetings followed by publication of minutes in Farina News.
JohnJohn Kilby (Treasurer) has been a member since November 1985, and has been Club treasurer for many years. John is a chartered accountant, and has produced detailed club accounts for every committee meeting and AGM. Most recently he has been involved in the detailed process which will allow the club to become a limited company, drawing upon his experience in this field.
MichaelMichael Mann (Regalia officer) has been a member since May 1988, and has been Club regalia officer since 2002. During that time Michael has introduced a new range of club polo shirts, sweatshirts, grille badges and key fobs, all of which are available by mail order or from his stall at club events.
AlanAlan Ratcliffe (Spares secretary) has been a member since February 1985, during which time he has was Club secretary. Alan has an engineering background and is best known for the excellent range of repair panels, which are hand made but which have the reputation of ‘fitting like a glove’, and which have kept many cars on the road as a result. Alan has a wide range of spares available for members, which are advertised in Farina News.
ClaireClaire Smith (Publicity officer) is our newest member and leaned to drive in 1986 on her brother’s A40, and recently joined the committee as publicity officer. Claire is an active member of the West Midlands group, and is very keen to publicise the Club, and has brought a good deal of enthusiasm to the role.
DebbieDebbie Smith (General committee member) has been a member since August 1987, and has been spares secretary for the past 15 years, and during that time has arranged manufacture of fibreglass boot lids, remanufacture of rear springs, top and bottom hoses. Debbie advertises a list of spares for sale in Farina News, which has helped keep a number of cars on the road.
JohnJohn Stubbs (Events officer) has been a member since August 1993, and recently joined the committee as our events officer having recently returned to the UK having worked abroad for a number of years. John is very keen to promote club events and has brought a good deal of enthusiasm to the role.
JimJim Winspur (Archivist) has been a Club member since October 1997 is sub editor for Farina News and is an active member of the West Midlands group. Jim has been Club archivist for five years, during which time he has commissioned a model A40, which has been available to members in addition to building up and making an inventory of club archives.
